TRANSCAER® Awards

Award Protocols

  1. Purpose
  1. The TRANSCAER® awards program is designed to:
    1. Recognize the achievements of individuals, companies, and organizations that have gone beyond the normal "call of duty" to advocate, demonstrate, or implement the principles of TRANSCAER;
    2. Enhance public recognition of TRANSCAER; and
    3. Increase participation in the initiative.
  1. Available Awards
  1. There are three categories of TRANSCAER® awards available, including:
    1. Distinguished Service Award
    2. National Service Award
    3. Regional Service Award

  C.  Awards Criteria and Administration

1.  Distinguished Service Award 

Criteria:

  1. Long-term and sustained dedication to the TRANSCAER® program; these efforts could result in exceptional growth of the program, recognition, or enhancement of the program.
  1. Exceptional performance of normal TRANSCAER® activities alone is not considered justification for this award.
  1. May be awarded to an individual, team, or company.
  1. There is no set limitation on the number of awards which may be given out each year and there is no guarantee that it will be awarded every year.

Nomination and Selection Process:

  1. Throughout the year, TRANSCAER® stakeholders are invited to nominate an individual, team, or company for the Distinguished Service Award. Self-nominations are not accepted for this award and employees cannot solely nominate their own company. However, an employee may be part of a group of two or more individuals preparing a submission for this award.
  2. The National TRANSCAER® Committee Chair, Co-Chair, and Coordinator must agree unanimously to propose the Distinguished Service Award be awarded to one or more individuals, teams, or companies.
  3. No individual in consideration for an award may serve during discussion of that award during the selection process. No company representative may serve during any session in which his or her company is being considered for an award, nor may any representative of an association under consideration serve during that session.
  4. A written document is prepared by the Chair, Co-Chair and Coordinator, explaining their nomination(s).
  5. The document is circulated to the National TRANSCAER® Committee.
  6. Unless 25% of committee members write a dissenting opinion to the National TRANSCAER® Committee Coordinator within 14 days, the award will be bestowed upon the nominee(s).

Presentation:

  1. Presentation would occur at a mutually agreeable venue where the successful candidate(s) can be recognized in front of their peers, such as the CIAC Annual Awards Dinner, CIAC's Responsible Care® Conference, Leadership Group meetings, etc.

2. National Service Award

Criteria:

  1. Meets one or more of the following eligibility criteria: (i) Exceptional delivery of TRANSCAER® tools and training to audiences across multiple regions; (ii) Recruitment of new TRANSCAER® members/participants in multiple regions; (iii) Actions resulting in positive media coverage in multiple regions.
  2. Activities must have been promoted as TRANSCAER activities.
  3. May be awarded to an individual, team, or company.
  4. There is no limitation on the number of awards which may be given out each year.

Process:

  1. Throughout the year, TRANSCAER® stakeholders are invited to nominate an individual, team or company for the National Achievement Award.
  2. The National TRANSCAER Committee Coordinator, Chair, and Co-Chair propose the National Achievement Award be awarded to one or more individuals, teams, or companies.
  3. No individual in consideration for an award may serve during discussion of that award during the selection process. No company representative may serve during any session in which his or her company is being considered for an award, nor may any association representative of an association under consideration serve during that session.
  4. A written document is prepared by the Coordinator, Chair, and Co-Chair explaining the nomination(s).
  5. The document is circulated to each of the Regional Committee Chairs, and the National TRANSCAER Committee.
  6. If the National Chair and Co-Chair, along with three Regional Chairs, consent to the nomination, the award will be given.

Presentation:

  1. Presentation would occur at a mutually agreeable venue where the successful candidate(s) can be recognized in front of their peers such as the CIAC Annual Awards Dinner, CIAC Responsible Care® Conference, Leadership Group meeting, etc.

3. Regional Service Award

Criteria:

  1. Meets one or more of the following eligibility criteria: (i) Exceptional delivery of TRANSCAER® tools and training to new audiences; (ii) Recruitment of new TRANSCAER members/participants; (iii) Actions resulting in positive media coverage.
  2. Activities must have been promoted as TRANSCAER® activities.
  3. May be awarded to an individual, team, or company.
  4. There is no limitation on the number of awards which may be given out each year.

Process:

  1. Throughout the year, specified TRANSCAER® stakeholders are invited to nominate an individual, team, or company for the Regional Achievement Award.
  2. No individual in consideration for an award may serve during discussion of that award during the selection process. No company representative may serve during any session in which his or her company is being considered for an award, nor may any association representative of an association under consideration serve during that session.
  3. The National TRANSCAER Committee Coordinator will discuss all nominations with the appropriate Regional Chair.
  4. In all cases where there is consensus between the appropriate Regional Chair and the National TRANSCAER Committee Coordinator, the award will be given.

Presentation:

  1. Presentation will occur at an appropriate venue where the successful candidate(s) can be recognized in front of their peers, such as Regional TRANSCAER Committee meetings or Leadership Group meetings.

  D.   Timelines

  1. Award nominations will be accepted from January 1 – December 31 of a calendar year with award selection and notification occurring in the first quarter of the following calendar year.
